Civil Liability insurance
In Quebec, the owner of an automobile must hold a liability insurance contract (section A) that guarantees the indemnification of material damage caused by the vehicle. This covers personal liability. This insurance also covers damage to your vehicle in the event of an accident where you are not at fault.
In Quebec, most vehicle owners buy additional coverage for collision, fire, theft and vandalism.
Note: In your insurance policy (Owner's form Q.P.F. No 1), the auto insurance coverage comprises several sections. Section A provides civil liability coverage and section B is divided into 4 sub-sections (Divisions 1-2-3-4) which describe the coverage for damage caused to your vehicle.
